Our History

          The thinking of Ogbomoso Baptist Central Association under the leadership of the Holy Spirit that there should be a Baptist Church around Sabo Area in Oke Ado to Cater for Spiritual needs of the inhabitants of the area; was why the association employed Pastor M.O. Oyetunji as the  Pastor for the new Church yet to be in existence on 01/06/1967, who started his ministry in the church with house to house to house visit in the area until 4th June, 1967 when the inaugural service to establish the Church took place at 4:00pm while all the churches within the association were represented in the service. The officiating ministers of the day were Rev. E.O. Fanibe, S.A. Adegbite, James A. clark, J.A. Adeniran, D.W. Adetoye, G.O. Odebunmi J.L. Oyadiran, D.A. Asaju and Pastor M.O. Oyetunji with Rev. D.A. Asaju, the association chairman breaking the bread of life in the service attended by about three hundred (300) people among whom were Kabiyesi Oba OlajideOlayode II. Pastor M.O. Oyetunji then was introduced as the church Pastor. It was Pastor J.A. Adediran that gave the benediction. Among the first worshipers in the service were Mr. AkandeAkinbola, Mr. Abel Adedokun, Mr. & Mrs. Kolawole, Mr. & Mrs. A.O. Akintunde, Mrs. H.A. Aderinto, Miss Esther Oyetunji, Mr. & Mrs. Ajagbe, Mr. Adeleye etc.

            As Ogbomoso Baptist Central Association was seeking the face of the Lord on how to get a piece of land for the Church, it was Masifa Baptist Church Ogbomoso who agreed to trade with God by releasing the present land to the association for the use of the Church and we pray God continue to bless the Church.

The first real member of the Church that came to worship in the Church the following Sunday 11th June 1967 were twenty three (23) among whom were Mr. JossyAkanbi (washerman) Mr. Isaac Oyetunde, Mr. LekeAjagbe, Mrs. Maria Ajagbe, Mr. AkandeAkinbola, Mrs. Ruth Oyelakun with her children and miss Esther Oyetunji who was then the sanitary keeper of the Church. The inaugural executive council meeting held on 30th July, 1967 with Pastor M.O. Oyetunji as the chairman while Mr. Kolawole was the secretary. During the second exective council meeting that held on 6th August, 1967, where Rev. D.A. Asaju and Rev. OsadolorImasogie were present, a motion arose that the churches within the association should be represented in the weekly Sunday services of this new Church, (Sabo Baptist Church, Ogbomoso) until the church have sufficient members and that the association should build a small sanctuary for the church.
